Air cadets’ guard of honour
Air cadets formed a guard of honour at the weekend.
Youngsters from the 22 (Sandy) Squadron represented the air cadets from Central Beds at Central Bedfordshire chairman Councillor Angela Barker’s civic service on Sunday (January 27).
They provided a guard of honour for the guests as they arrived at and left St Mary’s Church in Haynes Church End.
The squadron’s banner joined the banners of other voluntary organisations and the Royal British Legion for the service. It was carried by 16-year-old cadet sergeant Laura Dorrell.
The civic service was conducted by Reverend Dean Henley. Guests included the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis, the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Jack Sapsworth and mayors and deputy mayors from the area.
After the service the cadets joined the guests for light refreshments.
Cadet corporal William Clubb said: “It’s good to be able to be a part of the guard of honour and represent air training corps in the local area.
“It was also great to get to talk to the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire.”
