Armed robbers raid halal butcher's shop

Worker threatened with knife and punched in face

A worker at a halal butcher's was threatened with a knife and punched in the face during an armed robbery on Sunday (March 14).

Two men went into the Lala Halal Meat Market in Nursery Parade, Marsh Road, at about 5pm and threatened the member of staff with a knife before punching him in the face with a metal object.

They stole what Bedfordshire Police say was a 'large amount' of cash from the shop before leaving the scene.

The 36-year-old victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to cuts and brusing to his face.

The first offender is described as being of Asian appearance, at least 6ft tall, between 25 and 35 years old, clean shaven with short black hair, wearing a light grey track suit top with a hood.

The second offender is also described as being of Asian appearance, between 25 and 35 years old, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 11ins tall, clean shaven with short black hair and wearing a dark tracksuit.

Detective Constable Jon Wheeler, in charge of the investigation, wants to trace motorists or pedestrians who may have seen the men.

Det Con Wheeler said: !Any information may be vital to this investigation and may help trace those responsible for this violent incident which has left the victim injured and shocked."
