Work on a wind farm will begin this autumn – and its developments will be discussed at a community group.
The Langford and Biggleswade Wind Farm Community Liaison Forum held its first meeting in August.
The group has representation from The Co-operative Group, which is building the turbines, Central Bedfordshire Council, Langford Parish Council and Biggleswade Town Council.
The 10-turbine wind farm will be constructed on land north of Edworth Road in Langford.
The new forum will meet regularly throughout the construction and operation of the wind farm in order to ensure the interests of the local community are represented and that information is shared.
The first meeting was primarily concerned with the organisation of the new group.
Councillor Brian Saunders of Central Beds Council was chosen as the chairman and Tony Fisher of Langford Parish Council is the vice-chair.
Rob Ellis, sustainable energy manager at The Co-operative Group, said: “We are committed to working with local communities as part of every development project it is involved in.
“It is important in our efforts to ensure the local community will be kept fully up to date on what we’re doing on site and provides local residents with a channel for questions about the wind farm to be answered.”
The forum will play a vital role in ensuring that everyone has information about the construction of the wind farm, when it will start and any potential disruptions.
A leaflet will be distributed in the area with details of the construction timetable.
Work is set to begin this autumn. In the first two months this will be preparatory work, setting up the area and delivering the materials.
Anyone who wishes to ask questions about the wind farm can relay them to the forum via any of the group members.
