Bands set to do battle

editorial image

A battle of the bands event at a pub had to be postponed due to bad weather.

The play-off was due to take place at The Red Lion pub in Biggleswade on Friday, January 18.

But due to heavy snowfall the event was called off and will now take place on Friday, February 1.

Competing bands Filthy Visuals, Fade Away, Tie One On and Dirty Parle will now do battle on the night.

The competition will continue on Friday, January 25 with a different set of acts due to perform.

Mud Rat, The Saw Dust Ceasers and Sugar & Spice will be competing.

The event starts at 8pm, and bands will be assessed based on how enthusiastic the audience reaction is to their sets and also on the verdicts of the judges.

Battle of the Bands will continue every Friday until the final in February.

Away from the contest, on Saturday, January 26 at the pub three other acts will be performing.

Saxophonist Johnny Diggle will be opening the night before Crap Crab and Sons of Guns take to the stage.

On Tuesday, January 29 there will be a general knowledge and music quiz, while on Thursday, January 31 a 1970s, punk, new wave and ska night is taking place.

Other events planned at The Red Lion include dance events such as Deansy & Franklin’s (Imagine) UK House & Garage Night and an electro house night with DJ Ziggy.

Other bands booked to play at the Red Lion include Tequilla Mocking Bird, Rat Pigeon, The Wasted Angels, Dirty Torque and The Unbreakables.
