Award is a tribute to Luton Sea Cadet
The Colm White Trophy is presented to the first recipient
A special cup, in memory of a former sea cadet who died last year, has been presented at the Luton Sea Cadets annual awards evening.
The Colm White Trophy was awarded to Best Dressed male cadet Kieran Ayers, aged 13, during the event at the Regional Sports Centre in Stopsley.
Colm, of Castle Croft Road, suffered with the rare genetic disorder Prader Willi Syndrome from being a toddler, which affected his weight and dexterity.
He died at Luton & Dunstable Hospital on June 6, 2009, aged just 16, after complications with heart and kidney dysfunction.
His mother Emily White and brother Ciaran presented the Colm White Trophy at the ceremony.
Ten cadets were honoured with awards during the ceremony on January 30.
Danon Owers, aged 14, scooped a double gong, after winning the Cadet of the Year award and also the Best Dressed Female Cadet honour.
In May, the Luton Sea Cadets unit will be starting their Marine Detachment with room for 30 recruits.
