Biggleswade Fairtrade day 'was FAB'

Organisers delighted with turnout at the weekend

Shoopers were being encouraged to think about their purchases by Fairtrade Association Biggleswade on Saturday, March 7.

More than 100 people enjoyed the Think As You Shop event, hosted to promote ethical trading both at home and abroad, which included guest speakers, craft stalls and even a chance to help break the world record for the most number of Fairtrade bananas eaten in 24 hours.

FAB chairman Neil Spencer said: "We're really pleased with how it went. A good number of people came along and found out more about Fairtrade, which was what it was all about, as well as the issues facing local traders.

"We may well do a similar event again in the future."

The event, which took pace at Biggleswade Baptist Church, also included the chance to design FAB's new logo.

The next meeting of FAB will take place at 8pm on April 1 at Cafe Mocha on Biggleswade High Street - all are welcome to attend.
