Potential and current entrepreneurs can successfully juggle their children with their business plans.

A new group for mothers has been started in Sandy. Enterprising Mums already has a thriving branch in Hitchin.

Lesley Whiteman of Shefford is running the new group and she is also on the committee of the Hitchin group.

She said: “There are members everywhere starting businesses because it’s so hard to find work. The group is a great way of getting your business out there and for getting new clients and it’s also a support network.”

The group met for the first time this month, with 11 mothers trying it out. There are no official members yet as everyone gets the chance to attend for three sessions before they decide whether to join.

Lesley has her own business as a social media consultant and she is the mother of a seven and a nine-year-old.

She said: “We are all in a similar position with the challenges of running a family as well as a business and of the school holidays for those of us with younger children.”

Enterprising Mums meets on the first Wednesday of every month during term time at the Sandy Town Council offices from 10am to noon.

There will be a guest speaker for each meeting; sometimes a member of the group. They will give talks on specific angles of business advice.

Sessions cost £7 for non-members and £4 for members.
