It follows a campaign run by Penny and Tony Miles of Envelope Systems against HMRC’s deadline for changing to new Gift Aid envelope wording which saved millions of Gift Aid envelopes going to waste and hundreds of thousands of pounds for their customers.

They won the customer service category in the International Corporate Social Responsibility Awards and then went on to collect the overall winner’s title, Heart of Gold.

Penny said: “It is a great honour to be recognised like this, especially as we are only a small team of nine. The greater prize though was the satisfaction of being able to step in and help like that. I’m so glad the campaign worked.

“The campaign, enthusiastically supported by hundreds of our customers, saved millions of envelopes going into landfill and hundreds of thousands of pounds for churches and charities faced with having to replace their stocks.

“We like customers to buy our envelopes because they want to, not because of their misfortune at the hands of HMRC! They are great envelopes that should pay for themselves many times over. We’re happy to trade just on that basis.”

The ‘Heart of Gold’ award was won against stiff competition from category winners at the ceremony, many of which were large companies worldwide doing great work in the corporate social responsibility space. These included Kuwait Petroleum International and Cisco Systems as well as UK industry leaders including Aldi and London Stansted Airport.
