Cat-tastic fun for young readers

Literacy students had a special treat on Monday.

The Year 5 pupils at Henlow Academy were visited by children’s author, Alexander Martin.

Alexander, who held a workshop at the school, wrote Stanley Smartpants and the Mackerel Robberies and Stanley Smartpants and the Harbour Mystery.

Both of these are detective stories –starring cats as the main characters!

Detective Sergeant Stanley Smartpants is a blue tabby point birman cat. He is the principal detective of the Cathaven-on-Sea Cat Police. His claims to fame include being intelligent, handsome and beautifully dressed. He writes and recites poems about events that occur in the story.
