CCTV cameras are monitored at all times

CCTV cameras are being monitored at all times.

Central Beds Council has made the assurance after concerns were raised about the system’s effectiveness.

Tony Goss, who lives in School Close in Gamlingay, asked how the cameras are monitored after a man tried to get into his daughter’s car outside the Roundabout Club in Bedford Road, Sandy.

He had also heard of a similar incident in the last week in Sandy Market Square.

Central Beds Council confirmed that the cameras are monitored in real time 24/7 by the Hertfordshire CCTV partnership. Monitoring staff are based at Stevenage Borough Council’s CCTV control room.

There are seven cameras in Sandy. Four are owned by Sandy Town Council and three by Central Beds Council.

They are in the High Street, Market Square, Sandy Car Park, Bedford Road, Sunderland Road and the skatepark.
