More than £1,000 has been donated to St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger thanks to the efforts of Chronicle Country runners.

Biggleswade AC, which organises the Sandy 10 road race, has donated £1,200 of race proceeds to the charity.

The cash was presented to Fay Boissieux, the Regional Fundraiser at St John’s Hospice Moggerhanger.

The club, which is delighted to continue to donate money to charity despite having the additional financial burden of managing the athletic track in Sandy for the past three years, has now given more than £22,000 to local charities since it took control of the Sandy 10 race in 2000.

The Sandy 10 race was held in March and attracted more than 600 entries.

Club chairman Nigel Bush said he was “delighted that the huge success of this year’s Sandy 10 race meant that surplus funds could still be donated to such a worthwhile local beneficiary”. The club has now given well over £22,000 to local causes since they took control of the Sandy 10 race in 2000.
