Children’s playground named for retired head

Pupils are having a fabulous time on their new playground.

The equipment was installed at Potton Lower School over the summer holidays.

New head, Catherine Smart, cut the ribbon on Friday.

It has been named The Burmolator after former head, Ruth Burmo.

Jo Morris, secretary of the PTA, explained: “She is a wonderful lady and she’s done so much for the school for so many years.”

It replaced an old playground that was in constant need of repair.

The site was cleared for free by Potton’s Roy Bloxham of Bricks and Blox.

The equipment was built by Shefford’s Setter Play, and funded by Potton Consolidated Charities.
