Construction company’s gift
A construction company has donated its expertise and resources to a children’s centre.
Kier, which is based in Tempsford, transformed the office space at the Barnardo’s funded First Steps children’s centre in Peterborough.
Kier has promised to donate £80,000 to Barnardo’s in 2012 and 2013 as part of an ongoing partnership with the children’s charity.
Kier enlisted the help of its fixtures, fittings and equipment contacts Europa Services and Boss Design for the refurbishment.
Kier gave the centre disused furniture that was left over from the head office’s redevelopment and Boss and Europa donated furniture.
The walls were repainted and the carpets were cleaned.
The centre gained with three refurbished offices, space for seven extra staff and a new office layout that allowed staff to sit in groups rather than facing the wall.
