All of First Capital Connect’s trains have been given a deep clean.
The train company started the process in September last year and has spent £350,000 on the cleaning.
The results in the latest National Passenger Survey (NPS) reflect this investment with satisfaction for ‘cleanliness of trains’ up by four per cent when compared to the results this time last year.
The next step of the process is for the firm to maintain this level of cleanliness.
On the Great Northern route, the entire fleet of Class 313s, 365s, 317s and 321s will undergo heavy cleaning on a 36-day cycle to keep up the standards.
FCC engineering director Robin Kay said: “We are pleased to have completed the full scale clean and I am glad to see that our passengers have noticed a change through feedback on Twitter and in the latest NPS results.
“With the £350,000 investment we bought new cleaning equipment and this gives us resources to keep our trains really clean.”
He added: “We now have refreshed trains entering service on the Great Northern route and they feel like new trains.”
