Biggleswade’s historic son is to feature on a new ITV series about Britain’s past.
Dan Albone, who invented the safety bicycle and the first successful farm tractor, the Ivel Tractor will be the focus of I Never Knew That About Britain.
The series starts at 8pm on Monday, though it has not been confirmed which programme will feature the famous Chronicle Country inventor.
ITV asked Biggleswade History Society to take part and Jane Croot from the group travelled to County Durham to be filmed.
The programme’s presenter is Paul Martin from Flog It. He is shown on a journey of discovery in which he finds out about Dan Albone.
Speaking to the Chronicle about the show last November, Jane said: “I talked about his bicycles and motor cars and the tractor, which was his crowning achievement.
“At one point they have a whole lot of cyclists coming down the road in vintage costume.
“The day ended with filming at Vallum Farm near Hadrian’s Wall where one of two working Ivel tractors is kept.
“It’s going to be a really lovely programme.”
