Emily, 24, said: “I’m so excited to have been selected to participate in project like GOLD. It is one of a kind and being able to travel to Estonia alongside fiver other Girlguiding members will be a totally new experience for me and one I intend to make the most of.

“GOLD represents what guiding is all about. It’s about breaking down barriers and having fun with others. We as a group are really hopeful we can achieve this during our time in Estonia.”

The GOLD project has been one of the core opportunities open to Girlguiding members between the ages of 18 and 30 since its inception over 20 years ago, with participants travelling as far afield as Peru, Madagascar, Latvia, Rwanda and Cambodia.

Emily, assistant leader at 12th Letchworth St Hugh’s Brownies is raising funds ahead of her trip to Estonia. So far she has done this by organising a fun dog show, running a hot drinks stand at a sponsored dog walk, running a baked goods stall, distributing a general knowledge quiz and making a campfire songbook.
