Festival of music for sick Marshall
A HOTEL landlady will be raising money for a sick relative at a music festival on Saturday (June 16).
Beckie Philpott and her partner Matthew Lyttle will be running the event at The White Hart Hotel in Shefford in aid of Handstand – the Appeal for Marshall Janson.
Marshall was rushed to hospital on his first birthday in December 2008 following an attack of meningococcal meningitis, a particularly vicious strain of the disease.
Although he escaped brain damage he had to have both of his hands and legs amputated and faces a lifetime of rehabilitation while he gets used to using prosthetic limbs.
The charity has been set up to help support Marshall and raise money for his rehabilitation.
The couple put on a similar event last year and raised £3,674, which has helped to provide funding for four-year-old Marshall to have new legs fitted.
Beckie said: “Marshall will need at least one pair of hands and legs every year until he is 18, and the treatment may cost up to £950,000.”
The event will run until late and will include performances from the Soulman, The Revolutions, Mandy, Wise Old Owls, Tie One On, The Crooner and XL5.
There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, bungee run, roaming magician, beer tent and a barbecue.
Tickets are on sale at the hotel now and are £5 for adults. Under 12s will be admitted free.
The gates open at 1pm.
