Food store is open for Saxon customers
Natalie Taylor (Saxon Pool & Leisure Centre manager) cuts the ribbon
A Biggleswade food store has reopened under a new company following a half a million pound investment.
A Co-operative Food store has replaced the former Spar shop at the Saxon Centre on Biggleswade’s Saxon Gate estate.
Store manager Richard Clegg and Natalie Taylor, centre manager of Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre, cut the ribbon in a ceremony on Thursday morning (September 12).
The Co-op is donating £200 to the pool. The money will be spent on equipment for swimming lessons.
Richard said: “The Co-operative is a community retailer and we are committed to playing a real role in local life. It was fantastic that our neighbouring leisure centre could join us to share our special day and that the community will benefit from new swimming equipment as a result.”
Breads and pastries are baked in the store. Seasonal produce will be introduced throughout the year. The Co-op also sells higher welfare meat and fish as well as supporting the Fairtrade brand.
