Funds raised in memory of loving sister
A family is raising money in memory of a mother who died from ovarian cancer.
Margaret Cooper lost her battle against the killer disease in 2007 and in memory, her sister Val is organsiing a quiz night, while her son
Phil is preparing to trek 151 miles across the Sahara Desert.
Mrs Cooper battled against ovarian cancer since 2004 and she passed away at just 62 years old.
She was born in Moggerhanger and attended John Donne Lower School and was head girl at Sandy Upper, before moving to Leicester with her husband due to work commitments.
Sister Val Rutt of St Neots Road, Sandy, told the Chronicle: "She had been suffering from pains in her back for 18 months until she was finally diagnosed.
"They kept telling her it was a sciatic nerve, but it just wasn't improving and after a year and a half she was sent to a specialist and they told her it was cancer.
"But by then it was too late and it eventually spread to a massive tumour in her brain."
The fundraising quiz night is being held on March 20 and Mrs Rutt is urging everyone to come along and help remember her sister and raise vital funds for Ovarian Cancer Action.
The fundraising quiz is taking place at Blunham Village Hall for Ovarian Cancer Action.
Tickets are 10 and available from Val on 01767 225620.
