A village hall will be extra secure thanks to a £2,200 grant.

Wyboston Village Hall, which also serves Chawston and Colesden, has been given the £2,278 grant to spend on security measures by Biffa Award.

Following advice from the local police liaison community support officer, the hall’s committee will use the money to install a new alarm system.

Susan Woodman, hall committee chairman, said: “The upgrade of our village hall is important to our residents as it is used almost every day by all sections of the community.”

She added: “Without the help of the Biffa Award scheme the latest upgrade would not have been possible.”

The hall has not had problems with crime to date but the alarm system will serve as a preventative measure.

Over the last 18 months the hall has undergone an extensive programme of improvements to ensure the local community is able to continue to enjoy the facilities for many years to come.
