Home ransacked while family slept

Thousands of pounds worth of electrical equipment and jewellery were stolen from a family’s house while they slept.

Three iPads, two iPhones, a white gold wedding band, a solitaire engagement ring and a diamond eternity ring were among the items taken from the property in Arlesey on Saturday (September 22).

Burglars entered the family home in Stotfold Road some time between midnight and 8.30am.

They gained access to the property through a rear window and were able to search the kitchen and lounge areas without disturbing the family.

A variety of other necklaces and pendants and several other rings were also taken in the burglary.

Detective Constable Mandy Durrant from Bedfordshire Police, who is investigating the burglary said: “The family have been left devastated by this burglary and really do
feel violated in their own home by the actions of the offenders.

“We would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the burglary or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us.

Det Con Durrant added:“Please don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

Anyone with any information can contact DC Durrant, in confidence, on 01234 275035, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

Police also recommend that all valuables are registered with the UK National Property Register at www.immobilise.com

Expensive items like mobile phones, computers, bicycles, appliances and jewellery can all be logged on the site.

The service records serial numbers and also allows the user to upload pictures and brief descriptions of the relevant items.
