Hundreds raise thousands on starlight hike

More than 630 people pulled their walking boots on in the middle of the night for charity.

They were taking part in the first ever Starlight Hike to raise £60,000 of crucial funds for St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger.

The route at The Shuttleworth Collection led participants through 10km of beautifully lit, atmospheric scenery.

The hike was part of a number of Starlight Hike events taking place up and down the country, which formed Sue Ryder’s biggest community fundraising drive of 2012.

Danielle Brandon, events organiser, said: “The money raised will help maintain our important care services for people in the area for a long time to come.

“We urge people to get signed up for the 2013 hikes as soon as possible so we can make next year’s event even bigger and better.”
