It's a master plan
Town plan described as one of best ever seen
A TOWN plan – described as one of the best ever seen – has been produced after months of hard work.
And it is so good that it could be used as a template for other towns when they produce their own plans.
The plan, which sets out the future of Stotfold over the next five to ten years, has been put together after members of the Stotfold Town
Plan Steering Group held consultation events and produced questionnaires for residents.
Stotfold Town Council and the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) worked in conjunction with the steering group to produce the document.
Jemma McLean, community development worker for BRCC, said: "This is one of the most impressive town plans I have seen and I will be using it as a template for other communities to aspire to."
Key areas identified in the blueprint include the environment, housing, health and social care, the town centre, employment, policing and traffic issues.
Andpriority recommendations range from providing a wider range of activities and services for young people, to ensuring there is adequate provision of sheltered housing for elderly residents.
The need to improve local public transport has also been highlighted.
