Learning right on track, school inspector says

Children are getting a good education.
An Ofsted inspector has rated Shillington Lower School as ‘good’ in every key area and for overall effectiveness.
The report says: “Teaching is good and pupils learn well. Teachers are clear about what they want pupils to learn and have high expectations of what their pupils can achieve.”
Relationships between staff and pupils are positive and the children enjoy lessons.
The youngsters are making good progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
The report continues: “Marking is good. There is a clear system to make sure pupils know what they should be learning.
“Pupils thoughtfully judge their own work and progress and teachers give them very good feedback through their marking.”
The children are well behaved and proud of their school.
The majority of parents feel that their children are happy, safe and well cared for. Leadership, management and the governing body are all strong.
The school will now improving the use of technology to promote independent research and reading and to communicate with parents. A new website will be developed.
