A man suffered from a cardiac arrest following a traffic collision.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 8) at around 4.15pm when a Mercedes and a Vauxhall Corsa collided in Sandy’s St Neots Road, just off the A1.
Although the collision was relatively minor one of the men involved, who is in his 50s, collapsed shortly afterwards.
The East of England Ambulance Service dispatched a paramedic officer, an ambulance and a response car. Magpas Helimedix’s land crew also attended.
Police and ambulance crews gave the patient life support and restarted his heart before the Magpas team arrived an anaesthetised him. A member of the public also assisted.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “A male casualty collapsed at the scene and he was rushed to Bedford South Wing for further treatment. He’s thought to be in a serious condition.”
Traffic was disrupted for around three hours.
