A paedophile has pleaded guilty to possessing and sharing nearly 900 indecent images of children.
Anthony Pearson, of Station Road in Langford, pleaded guilty to 18 separate charges at Bedford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The 44-year-old had a full range of images on two computers ranging from Level 1 to the most horrific images at Level 5.
He admitted possessing moving and still images and making 884 indecent photographs of children. Making can also refer to duplicating images, for example by saving copies to a computer.
The prosecution said: “There was intelligence which indicated that someone at the defendant’s address was accessing a file sharing programme with indecent images of children.
“A warrant was carried out at his house and two pieces of computer equipment were found to contain indecent images of children. The defendant took responsibility for this.
“There are two charges for possession with the intent to show or distribute. That relates to two videos found in the sharing folder. The files in that folder are accessible for others to access. They are both films at Level 4; a high level.”
She added that the other, standard possession, charges are at all levels.
The prosecution continued: “There are four charges at Level 1, two at Level 2, two at Level 3, five at Level 4 and one at Level 5.”
The images showed young children ranging in age from between one and three to between 14 and 16 years of age. The majority were at the older end of the age range.
Both the prosecution, the defence and the three magistrates agreed that the matter should be dealt with at the crown court, where more severe punishments can be given. Pearson could face time in jail.
The defence did not make any other representations.
Pearson’s case will be heard on Friday, November 22 at Luton Crown Court. In the meantime he has been bailed with the condition that he does not have any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
He must also continue living at his Station Road address.
