Man slams midwives
Couple say they have received poor treatment at health centre
A man whose fiancee is seven months pregnant with twin boys has slammed the care the couple have received from midwives.
Luke Newman's fiancee Hayley Irving, 30, has been cared for by staff at Biggleswade Medical Centre since she fell pregnant, but the couple say they have been shocked by the poor level of service they have received.
Luke, 29, who works in PR and marketing and lives with Hayley in Langley Gardens, Potton, said: "To say that the care from the centre has been bad is an understatement.
"This may be due to a shortage of midwives not only at the centre but also in the country as a whole, but the lives of women and babies could be at risk if things do not improve.
"Our situation means that we need the support and guidance from our midwives whenever it is needed and we are simply not receiving it."
The couple's regular midwife has not been available when the couple have needed her most, and they have often felt that they have been ignored, Luke said.
