We are: Amanda Done and Hazel Lodge of Old Warden and Sam Jewers of Blunham. We have all lived locally for over 20 years. We are ASH Runners (that’s Amanda, Sam and Hazel!)
Local connections: Amanda works at the Shuttleworth Trust and Sam is a member of the PTA at John Donne Lower School in Blunham.
Event: French Riviera Marathon, Nice to Cannes, south of France on Sunday, November 10. Our very first Marathon ever! We are running in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. We only started running 22 months ago and couldn’t run for more than three minutes at the time.
Why have you chosen the charity? We are running in memory of Amanda’s cousin Ruth who died at the age of just 41 leaving behind four beautiful children; Emmy, Joe, Teddy and Hattie just before her youngest’s sixth birthday.
Because of the work carried out by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Ruth was able to spend more precious time with them before she passed away in January.
How are you preparing for the event? Lots of long runs and cake! We burnt off 2,200 calories on our last 18 mile run!!
