North-East Beds MP Alistair Burt has hailed the fall in unemployment in the area.
The latest unemployment figures show that just 2.9 per cent of 16 to 64-year-olds in Chronicle Country are out of work.
The figure for September was nine people fewer than in August.
Mr Burt said: “I am really pleased to hear that the number of unemployed claimants in September fell to a rate of 2.9 per cent.
“This not only shows that the work of the government is having a positive effect but also that our constituency is one of the best in the country for employment.”
He added: “Set against a total rise in employment throughout the country, I hope this is further good news for Bedfordshire. Being able to get a job is vital not only for individuals and families but also for the local economy.”
