New contract for sports centres approved

A new leisure management contract for two sports centres has been approved.

Central Bedfordshire Council’s executive committee has backed the contract for the Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre in Biggleswade and the Sandy Sports and Community Centre.

The committee approved the contract at a meeting on Tuesday (January 8).

Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities, services said: “We are acutely aware of the importance of leisure facilities to local residents and their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community.”
