Could you be a councillor?

Sandie Lunn has resigned from Sandy Town Council, leaving a vacancy in the town’s Pinnacle Ward.

Anyone wishing to be elected as the new councillor should ensure that ten electors from the Pinnacle Ward write to Central Beds Council’s returning officer requesting an election.

The letters should arrive by Wednesday, March 20 at the latest. An election would be held by Tuesday, May 28.

If ten letters are not received then the vacancy will be filled by co-option. This is when prospective councillors put themselves forward for co-option and the existing councillors vote for who should fill the vacancy.

All of the current town councillors were elected.
