A village pub has a new landlord and landlady.

Jane and Jago Hurt have taken over the John O’Gaunt watering hole in Sutton.

They previously ran the Hare and Hound in Old Warden for 13 years.

Jane, 44, said: “We were previously working in a Charles Wells pub and we moved here because this is a freehouse.

“We can buy our beer from wherever we want to. At the moment we have Adnams Ghost Ship and Woodforde’s Wherry and we will probably have three beers at any one time as we get towards the summer.”

Many regulars from Old Warden have even followed the Hurts to their new pub!

The John O’Gaunt has not needed much work as it was refurbished a couple of years ago but the new tenants have done a little decorating.

There are no events planned at the pub at the moment but it has a permanent skittles table and drinkers can play pétanque in the garden.

Jane works on the front of house while her husband, Jago, 42, is the chef.

Jane added: “One side of the pub is for food and the other is a locals’ bar. We try to source our food locally. We’ve been using Woodview Farm in Gamlingay for our meat.”
