Morrisons will be opening its new Chronicle Country store on Monday (August 26).
Morrisons M local in Biggleswade market square will open its doors for the first time, creating 20 new jobs in the town.
The new shop – located at the premises of the former Blockbuster store – will be opened at 9am by Julie Bonfield, chairman of the Biggleswade Good Neighbours Group and other volunteers.
Management at Morrisons were asked to pick a ‘local hero’ to open the store and the group was chosen because of its work in the community.
Morrisons M local will focus on selling fresh food including fruit and veg and meat and fish. It will also include a ‘Food to Go’ section where customers can pick up fresh coffee, pastries and bacon sandwiches.
Store manager Liam Dinsdale said: “When we came across the work of the Biggleswade Good Neighbours Group we thought it would be great to ask them to officially open the store.”
