New vicar welcomed
Sue Groom is new vicar of Langford and Henlow
A new vicar who has swapped city life for the countryside was welcomed to Chronicle Country earlier this month.
Sue Groom was welcomed to Langford and Henlow, stepping into the role left vacant after Rev John Morley retired, and says she is looking forward to getting involved with the community.
The 46-year-old, who previously worked in Yiewsley near Heathrow Airport, comes to the parishes from South Kensington in the middle of London, where she was responsible for training fellow members of the cloth.
Now she will be dividing her time between life in the two villages and her work with the Diocese of St Albans, where she will be helping to guide people who are hoping to become priests themselves.
She said: "For the two years I was in London doing teaching I missed having a parish community, so now I've got the best of both worlds.
I love being here, I didn't like being in the city, I like being in the country.
"I'm looking forward to getting to know people here and in the other half of my job."
