Roads are a top priority for concerned locals.
The Sandy based SG19 Road Safety Group met for the first time on Tuesday.
Chairman Stephen Allen said: “Despite the unfortunate clash with the England v Poland football match a good number of interested local people attended, following on from the excellent response to the new website, which has had 7,300 hits to date.”
A list of roads needing attention featured St Neots Road and the High Street, New Road and Station Road, Stratford Road and Swaden junctions, and Beeston High Road and its joining roads.
The group wants provision for pedestrians crossing the A1 to access the filling station at the Sandy roundabout. Members are worried that cars are not stopping at the crossing by the library.
Members decided to petition the government to generate an independent review of the existing road network and to correct any problems and in the long term to build a bypass for Sandy.
