Nominate a good citizen
WHO has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in their community?
For the last decade Sandy’s mayor has given an award to the person or people who have done the most for Sandy or Beeston as a whole or for other people living in the town.
Last year Sandy Town Council decided to create a second award specifically for young people. The idea was to counteract negative attitudes to young people by recognising that there are many good junior citizens in the town.
Once again it is time for readers to decide who to nominate for each award.
Previous recipients have included a charity fundraiser, cub pack leaders and the chair of a pensioners’ group.
Nominations should include the person’s name, age if known, address and why they should receive the award as well as your own name, address and telephone number.
Nominees for the young people’s award must be under 18 on the closing date. They must be at the town council offices by Monday, April 16. A council committee will consider the nominations and the winners will receive their awards at the annual town meeting on Monday, April 23.
