Pair will walk the walk for hospice charity
A fundraiser is staging a charity walk to raise money for the hospice that cared for his late brother.
Rick Markham will be welcoming walkers and their dogs for the Woofs and Wellies event in Biggleswade on Sunday (March 17).
A long-time fundraiser for St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger, Rick and his wife Carol want to support the hospice after his brother Barrie spent his last days there.
Barrie passed away in August last year following a long battle with cancer, and the couple – who run dog grooming business Country Clips in Potton – are keen to offer their support.
They have put on a series of previous charity events including pet shows and the Starlight Hike night walk.
Rick said: “The care Barrie received at the hospice was first rate and fundraising is so important as it is expensive to run.
“They have 18 beds there but the patients need 24-hour care and they do not get any government aid.”
Walkers will be asked for £10 to register for the two-kilometre walk and can also be sponsored to complete it.
