A motorist has lamented the state of a main road in a village.

Andre Etienne drives down Station Road in Langford on his journey to and from work, and says that the road is in an appalling state.

Businessman Andre, who runs his own carpet flooring firm, said: “The road surface is uneven and there are potholes everywhere.

“It is clear that attempts have been made to repair the potholes but it looks like temporary fixes have been carried out and then repeated, without any long-term work being done. You can tell by looking at the pavements that Central Beds Council has spent money on them – I can’t understand why they can’t just use that money to repair the road itself.”

Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member forsustainable communities, services at Central Beds Council, said: “Of course, the recent wet weather and cold weather on the way make
potholes and road damage more likely but actually our roads are generally in a good condition and we work hard to keep them that way.

“We inspect our roads on a regular basis and we’ve recently done some patching of the road surface on Station Road, as well as footway works alongside.”
