Police provide reassuring presence within the town

The police and other officials visited more than 200 homes in the north of Sandy.

Operation Vision High Visibility Day took place on Monday (February 4).

PCSOs and police cadets from Bedfordshire Police, led by Sergeant Gary Kidd, were joined by Police and Crime Commissioner, Olly Martins, local councillors, a bobby man and a representative of Bedfordshire and Luton Fire Service.

They gave out crime prevention packs and spoke with residents to reassure them and offer crime prevention advice. They also listened to any concerns or issues about the area.

Sgt Kidd, of Biggleswade and Sandy Local Policing Community Team, said: “This multi-agency partnership operation had a positive and reassuring impact on the community of Sandy in the areas where the operation was carried out.”

A police pod was set up in Sandy Village Hall’s car park to secure tamper proof screws to prevent number plates being stolen.

The bobby man went to 10 homes to provide home security devices for elderly and vulnerable people.
