Poppy pints and a pop-up Poppy Shop returns to town too

The original Poppy Shop returns to Bedford this weekend, when the Harpur Centre will host the store once again.

And what is more The Swan Hotel in Bedford High Street is supporting this year’s Poppy Appeal, with the arrival of Poppy Ale - a new drink from which £1.50 will go to the charity fror every pint sold.

The Poppy Shop opens on Saturday at 9.30am, and will be open seven days a week from then until Saturday, October 16.

And the Poppy Ale will be sold at the Swan’s Beer And Food Festival from Thursday, November 8 to Sunday, November 11.

Angela Parker, the Poppy Appeal organiser for Bedford And District, said: “This is a welcome boost for our fund-raising.”
