Between them the trio swam 200 lengths of the Saxon Pool in Biggleswade - one for every family with an autistic child supported by The Avenue.

Kathy Smith notched up an impressive 128 lengths, or two miles, with Sarah Polack and Anne Field bringing the total up to the 200 length target during the swim on Saturday, April 9, raising a total of £250.

The Avenue holds relaxed, informal support groups in Biggleswade.

Families can come and chat to other families who understand the highs and lows of living with a child with autism.

It is a positive friendly group where you can share tips, experience and knowledge. You can also view and buy helpful sensory and communication aids and pick up useful leaflets/handouts - all while enjoying a cup of tea.

The organisation runs a number of workshops and other events, such as holiday groups, to help parents learn more about autism. Other family members are welcome too.
