One of our towns certainly knows how to party the night away!
It may only be October but there is a new Party on Potton committee and the members are already preparing for the big weekend over the August Bank Holiday.
The committee has all new members –with background help from the former leaders – and they are keen to make the forthcoming events even more local than usual.
Carlton Avison has taken the position of chairman, Carolyn Marvell is the secretary and Andrew Fenton is the treasurer.
Carolyn said: “Next year’s theme is ‘Through the Decades’ and it will be from the Friday to the Monday. People will buy tickets for the evening events but during the day it is completely free so families can enjoy it without telling the children that they can’t afford it.”
The committee wants to recruit local bands for its Battle of the Bands and local craftsmen and women to give demonstrations. They would also like someone to put on a Punch and Judy show and they need a drag queen for the Vegas night.
The next Party on Potton event will be a gig by The Blues Brothers Tribute Band on Friday, November 15. It starts at 8pm at Burgoyne Middle School. Tickets will be on sale shortly.
The Party on Potton committee also run a portable events bar. It is free to hire and punters just pay for the drinks. All sales go to the Party on Potton events.
The committee will be present at the Potton Christmas lights switch-on on Friday, November 29.
They will also arrange festive carol singing.
