Rail user's warning
Man urges passengers to take care after fall
A rail user is warning passengers to take care when travelling after he fell at a train station and fractured his hip.
Ahmedali Jiwaji was visiting Biggleswade on business last December when he slipped on some snow by the railway station's exit.
Mr Jiwaji, a barrister from Kenya who planned to spend Christmas with his son in London, was admitted to Lister Hospital in Stevenage and was discharged ten days later.
He has since written to train company First Capital Connect to claim compensation, but the firm claimed that the station exits are the responsibility of Central Bedfordshire Council.
Mr Jiwaji, 70, then contacted the council but says he received no reply.
Although he was discharged from hospital he now finds walking difficult and he has been unable to return to Kenya.
He has remained at his son's house while he pursues compensation.
