Pre-school appeals for equipments after rodent infestation
A RAT infestation has forced a pre–school to close and throw out around 18,000 of its equipment.
Willingtots Pre–School was forced to shut down last week after finding the rodents had taken over its storage unit where it keeps all the play equipment, worth between 16,000 and 18,000
The playgroup, based in Willington, was told it would need to get rid of everything for health and safety reasons.
Members are now desperately appealing to the public for any financial help or donations to help them get up and running again
Vice chairman Karen Clark said: "We're devastated about this, at the moment we have no equipment at all so there was no way we could stay open.
"Since September we have been working really hard to improve the pre-school, we have had several staff changes, but now we have got something like this.
"It's a real setback for us, but it's something that is just totally out of our control.
"Our main concern is the health and welfare of the kids that are there, so we really had no choice but to get rid of all the equipment."
The pre-school is looking for equipment ranging from pens and paper and children's toys to tables and chairs, or financial donations.
