A trainee dental nurse was accused of attempting to poison her boss in revenge for disciplinary proceedings brought against her.

Ravinder Kaur was up before Blackfriars Crown Court in May, with the prosecution alleging that she had slipped mercury into the coffee of the dental manager at Shams Moopaen Dental Practice in Shefford.

But the jury was unable to reach a verdict. Prosecutor Samantha Cohen said the CPS would seek a retrial.

A memorial match held in memory of a devoted family man who passed away at the age of just 28 raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The Match 4 Magic, in memory of Mathew Greaves of Sandy raised more than £5,000 for a brain tumour charity.

Four criminals were put behind bars after being found guilty of violently robbing two elderly farmers at their rural home. Joseph Upton, John Leonard William Smith, Albert Smith and Alfred Stanley were originally jailed for a total of 54 years for the terrifying assault – but the sentence was later slashed at appeal.

Morrisons announced that it was set to open at the former Blockbuster store in Biggleswade – adding yet another supermarket to the town’s roster.

And Biggleswade Town FC won promotion in sensational style – going on to lift the Bedfordshire Senior Cup just days later. 2013 proved a truly epic year for the Waders!
