Road and footpath to be redeveloped
Enhancement work will take place as part of plans to develop a town centre.
The road and footpath between Biggleswade Market Square and Mill Lane are set to be replaced.
Central Beds Council – which has arranged for the work to be carried out – will use materials similar to those put down when the Market Square was previously developed.
The work is expected to start at the end of September and be completed by the end of November, in time for the run-up to Christmas.
The work forms part of the council’s long-term plans to develop Biggleswade town centre.
Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities – services at Central Beds Council: “The aim of the work is to improve the physical appearance of the area, while at the same time preserving its unique character.
“As with any scheme of this kind, there will be some disruption while the works are carried out.
“We will, of course, be doing everything we can to minimise this disruption for local businesses, road users and pedestrians.
“The final scheme will not alter the existing access or parking arrangements.”
