Salon lands UK hairdressing title

Success for Biggleswade business at prestigious awards night

Proving they were better than the rest was a snip for Biggleswade salon Maxwells after they walked away with a nationwide Salon of the Year award.

The business, based in Hitchin Street in Biggleswade, beat off competition from five other salons across the country to take the prestigious gong at the British Hairdressing Awards in London.

The awards were hosted by veteran newscaster Sir Trevor MacDonald.

Maxwells owner, Ian Hendry, said: "We are so honoured to have been given this award, it means so much to not only myself but the entire team.

"It is their dedication and professionalism to providing the ultimate salon experience that has resulted in us winning this prestigious award."

Now in their ninth year the awards, presented by Hairdressers Journal International, are designed to recognise commercial success and professionalism and are judged by a panel of industry experts.

The Salon of the Year category, sponsored by industry giants Schwarzkopf Professional, is regarded as being one of the most exciting within the British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Publisher and editor-in-chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr, said: "The judges had an extremely difficult job as standards were so high – to be chosen as a winner at the British Hairdressing Business Awards is a tremendous testimony to the inspirational business acumen and the team at Maxwells Professional Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy."
