A shabby chic shop is opening its doors for the first time.

Austin’s, which is in Sandy High Street, begins trading today (Friday, November 23).

Owner, Yvonne Austin, said: “There will be new and pre-loved furniture and household soft furnishings.”

Clothes will also be for sale with brands such as Laura Ashley being represented.

Yvonne and her husband, Phil, have lived in Sandy for many years and they ran a boarding kennels in Hatch at the turn of the century.

They have been renovating property for the last five or six years and this has led to an interest in furniture and furnishings.

Yvonne said: “Hence the interest in interior design and buying things. It’s the next step on really.

“Whenever we’ve done houses up to sell them I’ve just liked buying furniture and I’ve always tried to get it at the right price.”

A lot of the shop’s goods will be seconds or customer returns and the Austin’s will also buy items from auctions.

Anyone with an item of quality furniture that could potentially be sold by the shop can drop by and discuss it with the owners.

Austin’s will be open from Tuesday to Saturday. It is opposite Barclays Bank.
