Snow problem as task force pulls together

Diamond Jubilee Central Bedfordshire Community Volunteer Task Force

Diamond Jubilee Central Bedfordshire Community Volunteer Task Force

Volunteers have given the elderly a helping hand in the snowy weather.

The Diamond Jubilee Central Bedfordshire Community Volunteer Task Force, which is based in Sandy, was out in force over the weekend and on Monday.

They cleared snow from paths at the Aragon Housing Association properties in Sandy, Biggleswade, Potton and Shefford. They put down salt.

The task force is organised by community stalwart Ken Lynch. Volunteers included Sandy Councillor Nigel Aldis, local mothers and students from Sandy Upper School.

Midshires Search and Rescue and Sandy firefighters also helped. Volunteer numbers received a boost after Councillor Naomi Sheppard wrote about the project online.
