Stotfold flood alert

Heavy overnight rain has flooded roads in Stotfold in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

Householders in Coppice Mead and Brook Street called emergency services at 4.30am and reported roads flooded with cars under up to a foot of water.

The Stotfold fire crew attended and provided aqua sacks and sand bags.

The Environment Agency also attended. The flooding is thought to have been caused after a brook became blocked under a nearby bridge.

By 7am the worst of the flooding had subsided.
